What the Procedure Includes
Surgical or Closed Extraction
The right technique chosen for your pet's specific tooth and condition - not a one-size approach. Some teeth require surgical access; others can be removed more simply. What's indicated is decided at assessment.
Nerve Block Anaesthesia
Targeted pain control specific to the tooth being removed, used throughout the procedure. A nerve block doesn't eliminate all sensation, but it significantly reduces intraoperative and immediate post-op pain.
Gingival Closure
Proper closure of the extraction site to support healing and reduce the risk of complications. Not all extractions require the same closure approach - this is matched to the case.

A nerve block is used for targeted pain control specific to the tooth being removed, and post-op pain management continues after the procedure – we take pain management throughout seriously. We won’t claim the procedure is pain-free, but the goal is to minimise discomfort at every stage.
Yes, though the approach varies significantly by species – extracting a rabbit incisor is very different from removing a dog’s molar. Technique and recovery are adapted to the specific animal, which is part of why an individual consult comes first.
Soft tissue healing typically takes around a week, though complete recovery takes longer depending on the extraction complexity and species. Specific aftercare instructions – including diet adjustments and signs to watch for – are given at discharge.
